First Ride of the Year!

So this past weekend I was taking a trip into the city and decided it would be a good time to bust out the old two-wheeler and get some of the winter rust off of her.

I learned two very valuable things from this experience. First, that your tires will be low on air, so fill them back up (I actually already knew this, but with a quick squeeze to the rear tire I figured I could make it into town and back no problem). Second, that your rear end will be very sore after the first ride.

The ride itself was pleasant, good warm temperature and not many people on the road. Unfortunately my rear tire was almost flat as I started my climb up the Queensboro Bridge. I was huffing and puffing by the top. "Man I don't remember this thing being so big before!" After struggling through Central Park I made a quick stop at Bicycle Renaissance on Columbus Ave. between 80th and 81st. They have a free air compressor hose outside that the public is welcome to use. After inflating my tires I was off again. Man what a difference an inflated tire makes!

Spring is just around the corner even though as I write this there is a near blizzard blowing outside. Believe it or not now is the time to start greasing up the bike! Get your spring tune ups done soon so you can enjoy the spring biking!
